Inventory is the equipment book for the incident — NIICD kits, Starlink, MiFi, phones, and whatever else showed up on a truck. It is here so the map can link a pad to a real kit, and so close-out is not a pile of napkins. You only see this module when Incident Management is on.
Each equipment type decides which fields appear and what to call the operational id (Kit #, Unit ID, Phone #). S # is the fire order / cache number you will need at close-out. Serial is what the manufacturer stamped on the device. Those are easy to mix up and painful to unmix later. RF kits also carry a repeater name and a short repeater ID, so a label can read like CMD 7 — C087 — 4312 without stuffing the catalog name into every field.
Source is where the gear came from — cache, home agency, vendor, or personal — and that is what decides where it goes at demob. Contract gear picks a vendor from a shared directory reused across incidents. Vendors on the Equipment toolbar is where you fix a misspelling, retire a company, or delete one; delete is blocked while anything still points at it.
Think of custody as who is holding the kit right now, and condition as whether it is fit to hand out. Checking something out marks it as out. When you change condition you leave a short note so the next person knows why it came back damaged or went to maintenance. Damaged and lost cannot be issued. Kits also have a lifecycle (staged, deployed, demobed) that can sit next to condition, so demobed and damaged can both show.
Equipment is the full list. Filter by type, status, or source — source is how you pull “everything going back to the cache.” Search names, ids, serials, and holders. Add a kit, a single item, or bulk-add from a pasted list (one item per line; optional columns for ID, S #, serial). Expandable handheld kits unpack themselves into the catalog counts. Click a row for the detail and the event timeline. Export an Equipment Report when you need a cache-style handoff.
Check-Out and Return is a digital T-card board grouped by person. Checkout captures who has it (roster or typed), order number, agency, assignment, phone, issued by, and remarks. Accessories bundled with a radio stay linked. Click an item card to return that item; Return all walks every item with its own OK / Damaged / Lost. History has Currently out, All, Returned, and Item events — routine field edits do not spam the log.
Waybill builds the official OF-316 / NFES 1472 PDF with an automatic waybill number and status pills (Created, Shipped, Delivered, Cancelled). NIFC fills the Boise return address; new waybills default Shipped from to the Overview ICP. It will refuse a kit that still has units checked out, which is the software’s way of saving you a phone call from cache.
On the map side, one kit can link to one site. The map’s coordinates win. Empty RF fields fill from whichever side you save. See Map workspace and sites.
