A coverage map is a plan. Field testing is how you find out whether the plan is telling the truth. There are two ways in: you log reception yourself, or you send crews a link so they can report a problem without an account.
Testing on the map
Mapping → Testing is the book of record. Drop a waypoint where you actually keyed a radio. Give it a name (it will default to Test 1, Test 2, and so on). Rate every field transmitter: command repeaters, crossbands, UHF logs/relays, and A/C links — Not Tested through Good Comms (forms show 1–5; the map and lists leave the numbers off). Remotes, remote extensions, and command-post/base control points are left out; they talk through the transmitters you already rate. Note the band, handheld versus mobile, who tested, and when. Move on map lets you click a new location without losing the rest of the card. Filter by Command or Tactical so those points stay separate; command markers are circles and tactical markers are diamonds. The site filter recolors command markers for one site, or for the best rating across all sites. Colors run gray through red and orange into yellow and green so a glance tells you where copy died.
Field Recorder
Field Recorder is the logged-in phone page for a drive-around. Open it from the Dashboard, the top nav, or the home-screen shortcut when the incident lets you edit testing. Load it once while you still have signal so the page and the transmitter list cache. Then drive. It uses the device GPS. Choose Command to rate command / crossband / UHF / A/C link sites, or Tactical for a channel name and a single TAC reception rating (starts at Not Tested). It will hold points if you drop offline. When you come back they sync into Testing — you do not retype them. If you have no active incident it will ask you to pick one. If the session expires, the queue stays; sign in again and you return to the recorder.
Field Report
Field Report is for people who should not need an account. On the public home page they tap Field Report and enter the incident’s 6-character access code (letters and numbers, any case) or open the direct link / scan the QR. You create, rotate, or revoke that code from Testing → Field Report link — the modal always shows the code, durable link, and a downloadable QR with the Fireguy logo. They pick Incoming, Outgoing, or Both, and Command or Tactical, then send a GPS report. Command rates command repeaters only (not remotes or other kits); Tactical asks for the channel name and a reception rating (starts at Not Tested — they must pick a quality before save).
Those reports do not land on the map until you say so. A number badge on the Testing tab is the count still waiting. Accept copies a report into Testing points; Reject drops it. Accepted tactical reports keep their channel name and reception color on the map and list (they are not shown as Not Tested). The queue refreshes while you are on Testing, and the badge still ticks up if you are on another map tab. Change code on the public page lets a crew switch incidents without calling you for a new bookmark.
